Public Health Pharmacy Staff Receive Award
At the Commissioners regular briefing session on Thursday, August 20, 2009, David Foster, Pharmacy Director, Public Health Department, was recognized by the Board for receiving a 2009 National Association of Counties Achievement Award for the program entitled, Patient Assistance Program. NACo is extremely pleased to confer this award and recognize Forsyth County’s employees for their hard work to promote quality, efficient and responsible government.
This program actually works to offset medication prescription costs by offering free medications to persons in need. The PAP utilizes free medication samples from pharmaceutical representatives and calls upon medication assistance programs offered by most major pharmaceutical companies to stock approximately 30 popular medications. County funded staff distribute free medications through the pharmacy as approved by a physician, while CenterPoint employees help persons by electronically creating and submitting free medication assistance applications and submitting them to participating pharmaceutical companies.
Congratulations to David and his staff as well as CenterPoint Human Services Staff who work together with patients to fill prescriptions on a daily basis!
