Infant Mortality Rate Highest in 10 Years!
Newly released statistics for 2008 showed Forsyth County’s infant mortality rate to reach its highest level in a decade, at 12.0 infant deaths per 1,000 live births. This rate was high compared to North Carolina’s rate of 8.2 deaths, and is the highest infant mortality rate of all the urban counties in North Carolina. The 2008 non-white infant mortality rate in Forsyth County rose to 25.3 from 19.2 in both 2006 and 2007.
