In partnership with our community, the Family and Children’s Division of the Forsyth County Department of Social Services provided holiday items for over 200 children in Foster Care and 120 Relatives as Parents Program “RAPP” families (283 children and 138 adults) for a grand total of 641 people served!
Thanks to over 91 generous individuals, churches, Forsyth County Government employees, community groups and businesses, the “presents” of joy was encountered throughout our community.
Additionally, in November, 10 community sponsors provided Thanksgiving meals for 24 families (93 people). These deserving families were so grateful for the opportunity to have holiday meats, side dishes and tasty desserts to enjoy while gathering their families together.
The success of these annual projects exceeds providing basic items for families; it offsets financial burdens and strengthens family connections by providing opportunities to create lasting holiday memories.
A special expression of appreciation to Mr. Stan Gordon, a Foster-Adopt Resource Parent and leader of Boy Scout Troop # 919 in Pfafftown, for organizing his troop in the delivery of items to over 40 families during our wintry weather!
We are proud of the dedication of our senior social workers Brigitte Lindsay and Teresa Bryant, both of whom work long and late hours to accommodate both the schedules of our sponsors and clients.
In the midst of an uncertain economy, we are sincerely grateful for the success of our holiday assistance programs and the immeasurable impact on our community.
