Let's Talk Month Flyer with Event Dates
The Forsyth County Department of Public Health and the Forsyth Adolescent Health Coalition (FAHC) are celebrating “Let’s Talk Month (LTM).” LTM is a national campaign that promotes parents as their children’s primary sexual health educators. Let’s Talk Month is an opportunity to spread the awareness that youth want to learn about sex and other important health issues from their parents and that parents actually do have the most influence over their children’s decisions about sex.
On Monday, October 18th at 6:30 pm, a community Town Hall Meeting will be held at the Central Library Auditorium featuring local health professionals that will provide parents with information concerning teen trends as it relates to relationships, sex, and drug and alcohol use. The purpose of this event is to empower parents and community members to comfortably converse with their teens about these important topics. In addition, a special presentation for teenagers by Teens Taking Action from Greensboro, NC will be held at the same time in the library’s Teen Central area. On Tuesday, October 19th @ 6:30pm, the Winston Salem Police Department (WSPD) will present “Teens, Technology & Personal Safety,” this event will be held at the Health Department located at 799 N. Highland Avenue in the Boardroom. You don’t want to miss these events.
We hope that our Let's Talk Month events will bring teens and parents together to talk about sexual health topics during this month and in the future. The community is encouraged to participate.
