Mark your calendars for National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 29, 2013, and plan to participate in the Celebration of Healthy Aging. This FREE event will include entertainment, health screenings, a variety of exhibitors, refreshments, physical activity stations and lots of FUN! We will be competing for a Guinness World Record in chair-based exercise, and we need your help!
The Celebration of Healthy Aging will be held on May 29, 2013 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at the LJVM Coliseum Education Building. The Guinness World Record competition will begin promptly at 11:00am, so arrive early to reserve your spot and enjoy the musical entertainment from Ryan Newcomb. Following the competition, stick around to visit the exhibitors and participate in the various fun activities.
Do you have a group that would like to attend? Groups are encouraged to pre-register by calling Rebecca Thompson at (336) 703-3219. Individuals and small groups can register at the door. Again, this event is FREE!
The Celebration of Health Aging is being coordinated by a committee of individuals dedicated to promoting the wellness of seniors; and includes representatives from the Forsyth County Department of Public Health, Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks, YMCA, Gateway YWCA, Wake Forest Baptist Health, Kernersville Senior Center, The Living Well Senior Center, Forsyth County Aging Services and community volunteers.
Fun Activities include: corn hole, shuffle board, basketball shoot, a hula hoop competition, a bucket list and more…
Exhibitors include: Monkey Hooper, Costco, Winston-Salem Bike and Pedestrian Program, Homewatch Caregiver, YWCA, Lowes Food, GroMeds to go, Cricket’s Nest, Natural Foot Care, Sticht Center on Aging, Piedmont Plus Senior Games, The Shepherd’s Center, Home Instead, Forever Living, and Cancer Services.
