Forsyth 4-H’ers received honors during the recent State 4-H Congress. This year’s 4-H Congress, held in Raleigh July 16-19, attracted more than 540 young people and their adult leaders for activities including presentations on a variety of subjects, leadership and citizenship training, service opportunities, officer elections and more.
Blaise Gourley was installed as the new North Central District 4-H President and was also selected to serve as a leadership workshop facilitator.
Shandi McDaniel was selected as one of seven entertainment acts to perform during the event. She performed “Change is Gonna Come”, and she received a standing ovation! You can watch her performance clicking here. (it's well worth the five minutes).
Laurelyn Ridge won Gold in the Cecil and Leonard stand-up comedy routine and performed for the entire delegation on Tuesday during lunch.
Eleven Forsyth County youth also gave their 4-H presentations during the event. The following earned medals:
Four youth, Blaise Gourley, BJ Hutchins, Zech Crawford and Kate Halstead attended Congress full-time and helped package over 80,000 meals for Feeding Children Everywhere.
