Fans will be available to those in need at the Forsyth County Department of Social Services beginning June 1, 2019, thanks to contributions received through the Piedmont Triad Regional Council’s Area Agency on Aging from Duke Energy Carolinas (Operation Fan Heat Relief) and donations from Centenary United Methodist Church. Summer heat will soon be upon us and many will feel the uncomfortable effects of the heat, as well as suffer from heat related illnesses. It is DSS’s hope that the fans will bring some relief to the citizens of Forsyth County. Fans are limited and available on a first-come first-served basis. Criteria include:
Operation Fan Heat Relief
An adult 60 years of age or older or with a disability
AND
Have a home situation where a threat to health and well being exists
Community Fan Donation Program
Broken or no cooling source
OR
Individual meets the criteria for the Crisis Intervention Program
Those in need of help cooling their homes can call (336) 703-3800 to see if they qualify for the fans or other types of assistance.
