The Stepping UP program welcomes the community to the 5th Annual Global Peer Support Conference and Celebration on Thursday, October 17th from 9AM until 4PM in the Self Reliance Hall at Goodwill Industries NWNC.
The event is free and registration is required to attend. Lunch will be provided, and attendees will join Stepping UP in celebrating the important role Peer Support Specialists play in helping our peers who are struggling with mental health, substance use, and/or trauma-related challenges move along the continuum of recovery and inclusion in communities of their choosing.
Commissioner Gloria Whisenhunt and Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough will open the celebration with words of support. The event will host two dynamic speakers, Mr. Delton Russell and Mr. Ron Clark. Mr. Russell and Mr. Clark will share their experiences about staying in recovery. Attendees will also hear from Mr. Ron Magnum who will moderate an invigorating panel discussion with Peer Support Specialists. A representative from UNC-Greensboro will be available to discuss higher education opportunities, and Legal Aid will be present to discuss fair housing.
