Forsyth County Department of Social Services is offering transportation to residents who need to visit the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) Application Lab, located in the DSS building, 741 Highland Ave.
Residents can request a ride when they make an appointment for the application lab by calling 336-703-3700. ERAP is a federal program that assists with rent and utilities, including electricity, water/sewer, natural gas, propane, fuel oil, internet and garbage (for county residents who pay for it).
The program is open to all renters in Forsyth County who have financial hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic and have a household income that is 80 percent or less of area median income. For eligibility information, to apply online, or to make an appointment for application assistance, visit Forsyth.cc/ERAP.
Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The lab will be open additional hours on July 13, 20 and 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. by appointment and Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Applicants with appointments will be seen from 9 to 11 a.m. and, after that, walk-ins will be accommodated.
City and county officials encourage eligible residents to apply for assistance before the eviction moratorium expires on July 31.
