Social Services’ Child Support Services staff was treated to lunch and given certificates of recognition and gifts on Thursday, August 5th, in honor of Child Support Awareness Month.
COVID-19 and record unemployment rates have made collecting child support even more challenging than normal. Staff has shown perseverance and dedication through a year of uncertainties, illnesses, and personnel shortages.
Despite those challenges, Forsyth County’s Child Support Services staff collected $24.5 million for families and children during State Fiscal Year 2021. They also exceeded goals in the areas of Cases Under Order, Paternity Establishment, and Payment to Arrears. They achieved 99.29% of their Current Support Collections goal.
“In Forsyth County, we seek to strengthen families by securing paternity, financial and medical support while advocating for healthy bonds between parents and their children,” said Child Support Services Division Director Jennifer Tubbs. “We enjoy a great working relationship with the Clerk of Court and the County Attorney's office, both of which contribute to our continued success. Forsyth County Child Support is also committed to our partnership with the Forsyth County Reentry Council and Project Reentry. We believe that by opening the lines of communication with parents prior to their release, we can help in finding resources to help with their successful transition, and eventually secure support for their children.”
