The current program for giving cash cards to adults who receive a first dose COVID vaccination and their transporters will end on Sept. 1.
One hundred dollars worth of cash cards are currently available to anyone 18 and older who receives their first dose of any COVID-19 vaccine, and $25 cash cards are available to non-commercial drivers who take someone 18 and older to receive their first dose. The cards are for first doses only, and each patient’s COVID vaccination history will be checked before the shot is administered or the cash card is given. Cards will be available while supplies last.
Cash cards are given for vaccinations at the Health Department, 799 N. Highland Avenue, which takes walk-ups on Mon-Tues. 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Thurs. 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Fri. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
They’ll also be available for walk-ups at the following community vaccination events:
The cash cards are a program of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services designed to offset the time and transportation costs of getting vaccinated. Forsyth County Public Health has seen a tremendous increase in first doses since it began giving out cash cards on August 4. Public Health staff went from averaging 10-15 first doses per day to over 300 per day.
The state plans to begin a new incentive program in the coming weeks to encourage vaccination.
