Forsyth County Department of Social Services’ Adult Services Division used a virtual platform to collect gifts for a list of 55 of its most vulnerable clients.
The donors that participated using SignUpGenius, who purchased gifts for 28 clients are: Gayle Swain, Triple Threat Line Dance, Encore Line Dance, Robinetta Blackwell, Mary Lewis, Cherise Taylor, Rickita Foster, Amy Comparato, Amy Hardin, Missy Bell, Gina Clodfelter, Karen Charles-Miller, Adult Services Division Office Assistants, Laurie Garrison, Melakne Stimpson, Sandra Grbus, Felicia Stover, Lori Fulp, April Sain, Endya Mack, Leslie Simpson, Porshe Evans, Amber Johnson, Teresa Hooker, Patricia Spann, Jessica Bolling, Alison Westbrook, Ann Paul, Chelsea Swaim, Judy Nelson, Ebony Hay, Jamita Griffin, Hattie Fulton, and Dereika Stone.
On December 7, 2021, Christa Smith and Tina Lewis received gifts from Veterans of Foreign Wars – Post 9010 Auxiliary of Clemmons, NC, which sponsored 27 clients. Kathy Autry spearheaded this project.
Donations included a laptop, articles of seasonal clothing, shoes, toiletries, household items (such as pots & pans, Air Fryers, blankets, comforters, linens, organizers, etc.) 2022 Calendars, favorite goodies and snacks and more.
Melanie McCoy contacted the Adult Services Division, after all the slots were taken from SignUpGenius. A second appeal was made and, at that time, additional clients with unmet needs were identified. Red Bank Baptist Church of Germanton, NC provided a total of $700.00 in gift cards; gift cards from Walmart, Food Lion, Harris Teeter and Visa. Pastor James R. Clyburn, President of Missionary Department – Nancy Green, Helen Denard, Samuel Denard, Aria McCoy, Laquana Glenn and Melanie McCoy and the members of Red Bank Baptist Church sponsored 17 clients. The gift cards were used to purchase much needed clothing and food for these clients.
Due to the overwhelming responses from our DSS staff & their families, VFW Post 9010 Auxiliary and Red Bank Baptist Church, 72 clients had an amazing holiday season. The entire Adult Services Division would like to express heartfelt thanks to all that participated. THANKS A MILLION!!!
