The Be Healthy School Kids Program is a nutrition education program targeting Pre-K through 5th grade students at all Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Elementary Schools. At each school, we strive to reach students, staff, faculty, and parents through bulletin boards, morning announcements, quarterly newsletters, grade-level presentations, School Wellness Committee technical assistance, PTA workshops and/or special events.

Family Fitness Nights at each school will consist of door prizes, healthy snacks, and two 30-minute activity sessions! Below are the descriptions of the activities that you may participate in while at these fitness nights!
Crazy Running offers running, track and field and conditioning programs for young athletes ages 3 – 17. Our programs are typically 8-week sessions, and we offer a variety of different training opportunities throughout the year. Athletes can train with us year-round with 5k Training, Winter Conditioning, Summer Track and Field, Family 5k Training, and Speed and Agility Training. Our goal is to positively impact the health and future of young athletes through running.
Home of Yoga(mmunity). Bringing the community together through yoga practice, one asana at a time
Kat's Travelling Studio delivers fantastic, focused coaching & training right to your door, with a variety of fitness styles to choose from! From dance, to high-intensity interval training, to core endurance, to mobility!
We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. |
Besides BeHealthy School Kids we try to reach all students in Forsyth County by partnering with local YWCAs, Parks and Recreation centers, and other community partners by offering summer camps and after-school programs. Below are two programs we provide during those times:
A 4- week Summer Youth Nutrition program, targeting elementary aged children, that promotes healthy eating through educational sessions on MyPlate and healthy snack cooking tutorials.
A 10-week family focused garden, nutrition, and physical activity after-school program that will help reduce childhood obesity numbers in Forsyth County. Elementary age children will learn to try new vegetables, understand the benefits of MyPlate, and learn how to plant a garden! All produce harvested from the student gardens will not only be taste tested by students but donated to the Healthy Corner Store Initiative to help aid food deserts in Forsyth County. At the end of the program students will earn their Junior Master Gardener Certificate!
