This ancient poplar tree sprouted before Columbus sailed for the New World. It grew to great height and breadth.
After being struck by lightning, it decayed to form a hollow center which provided a hiding place for possessions. A man hid his cow & calf there to save them from Union Soldiers during the Civil War. It gave travelers shelter from the rain & couples called it the "Loving Tree". This tree has long witnessed the weather, nature & generations of Forsyth Co.
