The Adolescent Health Coordinator (AHC) leads two adolescent sexual health programs known as Flourish and UNIFY. Flourish is an all-girls adolescent health program for young girls ages 9-13 that live in Forsyth County. Flourish covers a variety of adolescent health and development topics including:

Puberty
Female Anatomy
Hygiene
Self-esteem
Communication
Peer Pressure
Bullying

UNIFY is a coeducational adolescent health program for young people ages 14-18 that live in Forsyth County. UNIFY covers a variety of adolescent health and development topics, including:

Puberty
Male/Female Anatomy
Abstinence
Pregnancy/STI Prevention
Communication & Healthy Relationships

The AHC provides education to the community in three ways:

The AHC strives to meet the needs of the community by providing both one-time presentations as well as curriculum implementation to local schools and community organizations. In addition to presentations on puberty, dating and prevention, abstinence, self-esteem and communication, the AHC will also offer the following curriculums:

Peer Educator Training - Flourish & UNIFY Sessions

The AHC offers two preteen and teen sexual health programs for adolescents. Both sessions are held biweekly on Tuesdays at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health. Flourish's session are held at 4:30pm-6:00pm. UNIFY sessions are held at 6:00pm-7:30pm. During these program sessions, teens learn topics specific to their program using presentations, discussions, games, and activities. Discussions are confidential to allow teens an open safe space to share their thoughts and feeling and ask important questions related to adolescent health. Food and transportation are included for each meeting.

Family Planning Clinic Services

The AHC is available to meet with you or your child on Wednesday afternoon's from 1pm-5pm in the Health Department to help plan a meeting with the Family Planning Educator. To schedule a health education appointment with the AHC or Family Planning Educator please call, 336-703-3180.
