This program is an Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention program funded by Forsyth County. Teen Talk provides ongoing educational sessions throughout the year for young women between the ages of 9-13. The program focuses on the well being of each participant by addressing positive self-esteem, goal setting, decision making, values, peer pressure, sexuality and its responsibility, communication skills, and relationships.
Teen Talk aims to reduce the rate of unintended pregnancies in Forsyth County. It also encourages girls to postpone sexual involvement. On going activities offer reinforcement and support for participants as they mature and set personal goals for themselves. Teen Talk provides an environment where teen females can come and share concerns and receive correct information regarding adolescent health issues. The program is designed to encourage, support and highlight positive thoughts and actions. It educates participants on every aspect of adolescent development. As teens, there are always decisions to be made . . . some harder than others.
Participants are encouraged to excel academically, initiate career development, and take part in community service projects. Teen Talk is currently offered in selected elementary and middle schools and at community sites for both elementary and middle school students. Participation in this program is free, but space is limited. The group meeting time is 5:00 - 7:00 pm For more information, please call (336) 703-3269
